I've missed my cycling goals two years in a row. Should I tone back my expectations or is that under-aiming?

Only 5 years later. I decided to have the same goal & New Years resolution for 2020. Complete 10,000km of cycling and tonight I completed it a month early!

Highlights

Despite the Pandemic kicking off I made good use of our 12 week real lockdown in Barcelona. I trained my butt off. I tried to maintain a schedule of 1 hour intervals in the morning and 2 hours of free-ride at night. All of this on the indoor trainer of course. During lockdown I covered 2569km’s of distance over 95 hours.

Completed the Alps Route from Lake Geneva, Switzerland to Nice, France. Totals for the week:

  • 6 days riding.

  • 1 unplanned rest day due to rain.

  • 659km

  • 16,382m climbing.

  • First time in the Alps.

  • First time watching a Tour de France Flag of France stage live.

Notable climbs: Col de la Colombière, Col du Pré, Cormet de Roseland, Col de L’iseran, Col de la Madeleine, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier, Col de Vars, Col de St. Martin, Col de Turini, Col de Castillon, Col d’Eze

New Years eve I completed my first Virtual Everesting with a total of 8,902m climbed in a single virtual ride.
